Office of the Children's Lawyer Panels

The OCL is an independent office that operates within the Victims and Vulnerable Persons Division.  The Children's Lawyer for Ontario is appointed on the recommendation of the Attorney General to independently represent the personal and property rights of children in a range of legal proceedings including custody and access disputes, child protection cases, civil litigation and estates and trusts litigation.

Personal Rights Lawyers within the office represent children in various areas of law, including child custody and access disputes and child protection proceedings.

Clinicians conduct investigations and prepare s. 112 reports for the court in custody and access disputes and may assist lawyers who are representing children in such matters.

Property Rights Lawyers represent the Children's Lawyer who acts as a litigation guardian for minor children in civil litigation and estates and trust matters.
